Problem with a small MP3 player similar to IItronics and aigo etc?

I connected my 2GB small MP3 player to an exteral speaker (iRythms A-460) designed as iPod docking station but with external Aux Audio input for other audio devices. It right away blow up the screen !? The MP3 player still works but screen doesn't come on so I can't see which song/album/folder I am in. (My Nokia N95 worked fine with the speaker).

1- Is there anywhere that repair MP3 hardware (can it be repaired).

2- I have another similar MP3 player how safe is it to connect to speakers, was there a problem with this MP3 player/speaker or is it generally not safe to connect these devices to active speakers.

Some feedback, I sent back the iRhythms and now got a Logic3 i-Station MIP107, my MP3 player works fine with this one and I am happy with the sound and quality (although batteries don't last long in these speakers).

I guess the iRhythms was faulty or just has too low input resistance for small MP3 players.
