How can I fix my cassett deck TEAC CX 350?

Worked fine but now my TEAC CX 350 blows a 500 milliamp DC fuse on the PCB if the REC button is pressed. Replace fuse, PLAY works again. Is the fault in the button latching mechanism, is there a simple solution for this otherwise good player.

Most likely if it blows a fuse on record mode you probably have a short or a bad ground on the record mode
