Hotpoint RF64S not getting cold. Help?

Have just fitted a new thermostat on my Hotpoint Ice Diamond fridge freezer RF64S as the red light came on and both the fridge and the freezer were not getting cold. Well new thermostat is in and is still not getting cold. Seems to be making all the right noises. Would really appreciate any help.

The fridge is really cold, but freezer not working properly, and things are defrosting. What can the problem be.

Hi.

Mine (i.e my Hotpoint RF64S) has suddenly stopped every lights, including the one inside. I unplugged the plug, and put it back in. It started again -on red light- but after a few seconds, it definitely stopped. I listened at the rear and a strange noise occured for a short time.I noticed a strange odour. I believe that was the freon gaz escaping, but why and how it happened, I have no idea. The worst of all is that my Hotpoint is less than 4 years old...

The answer Mike left is interesting to know.

Where do you keep the fridge freezer ? We have a hotpoint R64N which we keep in our garage - the red light won't go out. Instruction manual suggests the garage is too cold and consequently neither the fridge nor freezer are getting cold. Ideal operating temperature 10 - 32 degrees celsius. Present cold spell appears to be our problem and subject to the location of your unit might also be the answer to your problem. Hope this helps.
