Remove 2 screws holding the carb plate. Remove the flywheel/fan cover. Separate the upper and lower halves of the main body covering the motor. The upper half which includes the handle can be moved around to a point of looseness around the tank. I had to flex the tank a little to get sideways clearance to disengage the tank mouth from the upper half cover. There was no damage to the tank, only a little dent. Reassembly posed no problem. While I was in there, I
replaced the fuel, pulse and oil hoses as well as that critical boot. I also rinsed the tank with solvent and used solvent and compresssed air to clean the fuel filter inside the tank. Those rubber parts on my mid '80's 330 got cooked brittle. Best of luck. I'm told the 330 is a good saw and would cost $400 to replace today. Steve Boden
