How do I replace a defective reverse light switch in golf mk3?

Vehicle is 1993 manual 1.8 gl. Bulbs and fuse are ok. VW dealer said it is easy diy job.

if memory serves me right the switch for the reversing lights is on top of the gear box disconnect the wiring connector then undo with spanner and replace with new part. hope this helps
