My ceiling fan light cord won't switch the light on?

I have a ceiling fan with a light in the middle, there are two cords that come down from the fan, the one for the light until recently won't turn on. I have a feeling I've yanked it too hard. Is there anything I can do?? I've tried looking for ways to get that section of the fan open, but I really don't know what Im doing! Help!

the switch is probably stuck or broken. can b replaced. three screws on light fixture at very btm.take loose to access switch. careful turn power off at breaker box first.

Most fans of this type are screwed together just above the light - you may have to remove the shade to see them. Removing these screws will should you to get at the switch.
