I can't get the tape to give a picture on my t.v

If connected with RF cable, check that the video's RF Modulator is switched on. Instructions for this will be in the user manual. Under a section such as 'setting the RF output CH'.

If connected with AV leads check that you have selected the corresponding rear AV socket with the TV remote control.
