My peugeot expert van will not operate heater fan?

there appears to be a fault between the fan control and the fan. Is it possible to down load a picture of the heater unit plus annotations

My worked intermittently and then stopped. Removed and re-seated all the fuses that mentioned blower. Removed the relay in the fuse box by the battery and cleaned the socket. Guess what it worked! Fingers crossed thats sorted

First off check the relay. It will be a square block on the right hand side of the fuse box. Its the one at the bottom. Mine had fried. They cost £8 from good retailers. 25Amp is the correct one (green) But I fitted a 40amp (Black).

I too also changed the slider control unit (as per above) But found that is WAS NOT the cause. Only paid £30 from breakers for it so not a big deal. Will resell again on ebay. But for the sake of checking just have a look at that relay which is a doddle to change.

Oh the problem was that its a loose contact on the relay so I will also do a bit more to correct the issue by stripping down the fuse board and forming a better connection to stop it happening again.

Hi, I too had problems with my Peugeot Expert van fan, Nothing happened when I moved the slider control! My father has same van and his heater is intermittent our vans are the 1999 TD. The problem is there is little information around about these vans because Haynes have not made a manual for these vans and after emailing them, turns out they don’t plan to make one either! Doh!
I have found a manual on sale on EBay written by Peter Russek, which covers the Expert, Dispatch and Scudo. Ok so this might help you as it worked for me, Grab hold of the gear stick cover and pull it up this should separate the cover from the dash as its just a push fit design. You should have now revealed screws to take the in car charger / ash tray out. Take it out and this will reveal the screws to take the cover off of the sliding control unit for the heater. First pull all four knobs off of the sliding controls as they are a click on fitting, and then unscrew the cover from control unit. This will reveal a rectangle shaped control box, with a cable and wires coming out the sides. Here you need to unscrew the cover from the unit and pull this out, this is a little tricky but don’t hold back the cover has 3 small light bulbs on it good time to change any that don’t work, the cover has contact points on the back that are probably dirty like mine was so give it a good rub down and clean. Also clean the copper contacts that are on the base of each slider control and make sure they are bent up to make a good contact with the back of the cover. Once you have done this place the cover back on and do up the screws you can now turn the engine on and try the control unit before you put the rest of the covers back. If it now works great if not re check the copper contacts for good contact on the back of the cover.
Also you need to check the fan its self. I found that although the power supply to the fan was plugged in to the unit the contacts were tarnished within the plug and the plug was a loose fit, I cleaned them off and connected the plug back into the unit. The Fan is located just above the passenger foot well and you can see it by getting down on your hands and knees and looking up behind the dash. You will see the power cable going into the bottom of the unit so just pull on it to separate it and take a look at the plug, clean the contacts (make sure key is out of ignition) and give it a firm push back in. Good luck.

I wish I had a positive answer for you.

My Peugeot Boxer developed a fault with similar symptoms recently.

I have just spent this weekend stripping down the dash and control units to make a repair.

It took me most of yesterday morning to convince myself that it was the control switch on the dash which was faulted. Then I worked all yesterday afternoon and part of the evening stripping it out of the dash. What a mini-nightmare.

This morning I opened up the sealed unit and set about refurbishing the switch. The copper contact had broken away and there was a lot of carbon charring on the plastic actuator and switch tracks.

I spent most of the morning cleaning and rebuilding the switch using bits of copper wire, copper staples, araldite and gaffer tape. Thank heavens for dremil-like mini tools and a decent soldering iron.

I now have a working heater again. Much appreciated after the cold journeys in freezing conditions over the last week.

Why bother?

I could not face the £275.00 average estimate for repair I have received been quoted by a few dealers in the area. Two weeks ago I had to pay for another major repair. Another big bill so close to Christmas is not an option for me.

I will probably invest in a new switch and fit it myself. My "repair" may not last forever, and at least I now know what is involved.

But I will wait for warmer weather before tackling it next time.

Given the time I have spent along with the bruised knuckles and frozen toes and fingers, £275.00 was starting to look like a reasonable price at around 4pm this afternoon.

I wish I could help you with the Expert fault but I suspect that the controls and access are totally different to my Boxer.

Next time I'll take photographs as I work through the switch replacement. They may be useful to someone with a similar fault.

Before I started I spent a lot of time, like you appear to be doing, surfing the web looking for information and help but there was not a lot of useful information that I could find.

With the benefit of hindsight, and without the other recent repair still fresh in my mind, I would probably have opted to put the Boxer in at a dealer.

Good luck
