Why does my Electrolux LE canister vacuum shuts off after 5 minutes of use?

The vacuum shuts off after approximately 5 minutes of use. The motor sounds like it is laboring and appears to be getting hot. Suction is good.

My manual for the LE says that the vacuum will automatically shut off if it is overheating. If you wait 30 minutes it will start again, but you obviously have a motor problem if it is over heating to start with. Can't help you with that part.

The overheat switches are doing their job here....make sure all filters are completely clean - its worth dismantling the motor compartment and blowing it out with compressed air if you can.
