Dual flush Roca toilet flushing problem?

My toilet has suddenly stopped flushing properly. It's a dual flush Roca and I have to press both button down and keep them depressed until the bowl has been cleared. I can't even work out how to get the cistern lid off either. Can anyone help me?

I followed Les's instructions (2007) on how to take off the top of the cistern, cleaned those parts and added a little bleach to the water in the cistern then flushed the toillet once reassembled and so far no continual trickling of water.

Thanks for the answer. All i needed to get lid off was a medium flat head screwdriver and my little finger, easy when you know how. But what a bloomin nightmare overall. Little things like this can hold a job up for ages. 2 of the 3 Roca's in my house have been iffy. Thank god for google. Prob now sorted. Good job, as i was dieing for a leak.

Hmmm this seems to be common - the flushing problem that is. I have two Roca Giraldo units and they both misbehave. One needed just the 'right' twist to get it to work properly, and the other is - more or less behaving - not very good at all. Now I am in a search to get another plastic cylinderical insert (then the two push buttons fit inside it) - having broken the other one. This could be a life-long project .... !!

To remove the lid depress one of the buttons and pop the other one out with a small screw driver, if it has one round & one moon shaped button press the round one. once you have the buttons removed you can unscrew the center bolt and remove the lid. The best coarse now is to remove the syphon by twisting it slightly anti-clockwise and lifting out. (turn the water off first) take it to your nearest plumbers merchants and get a new one. reassemble in reverse order making sure the 2 little lugs on the bottom line up with the slots.
