digilogic dvd/vcr combo?

we have a digilogic dvd/vcr combo and the display on the machine reads SAFE and none of the buttons on the control or the actual machine will work what is wrong with it.

To get it out of safe mode, hold down the power key on the remote for a few seconds,whilst pointing it at the machine. This should then clear it.
