ge spacesaver microwave?

"How many people does it take to change a ge spacesaver microwave oven lightbulb?" Seriously, how do I change the light bulb in my microwave oven? Not the night-light/over the stove light, but within the microwave portion of the oven itself? It's a ge spacesaver/over the stove type unit. Have done a little inquiry and it appears that you have to pull the entire thing out from the wall?! That seems ridiculous - like pulling the motor to change a tire! My husband has arthritic shoulders and my back is "out" - surely you can access the light without pulling the whole oven out of the wall!!! Do we really need to hire a handyman to change a light bulb?! Help! Thanks and God bless!

What an amazingly easy fix. Remove the grill, remove the filter, open the light cover, and screw the bulb back in. Piece of cake!

Zero cost. Your bulb is not burned out. Just loose.

DO NOT REMOVE YOUR MICROWAVE. THAT'S NUTS.

Mine keeps coming loose. This is the 3rd time, how about yours? Any ideas how to prevent it from coming loose?

According to our Spacemaker XL manual............To replace the oven light, first disconnect the power at the main fuse or circuit beaker panel or pull the plug.
Remove top grille by taking out the 2 screws that hold it in place. (Should be on each end.) Next remove the two screws located above the door near the center of the oven that secure the light housing. Replace burned out bulb with 30 watt incandescent bulb (WB02x4235) available from your GE Supplier.

(You can probably get the bulb for much less money a a local lighting store or hardware store.)

It only takes one! EZ! Get a stepstool, and unplug the unit (mine was plugged into an electrical outlet in the cupboard above the unit.) Then, just unscrew the two little screws on the front - in the vent panel above the microwave door and lift off the panel (this is a good time to clean it - I was suprized how yuk! greasy it was, even though I wipe it off all the time!) Then, inside behind where the panel was, in the middle, there is a single screw holding the light unit - unscrew that, and lift off the top and reach down in there - to the right you'll feel (or see, if your stepstool is taller than mine!) the lightbulb, hallelujah! Check this out - my bulb wasn't burnt out, only loose! So I tightened it down, plugged it back in and - happily, "I saw the light!" Found this out by reading the manual - we just bought this house, and didn't get the manual, but I found it @ GEAppliances.com. So it was jsut a matter of three little screws - only took about 10 minutes, including cleaning the vent panel before I put it back on.
