Desktop shortcuts to access external hard-drive?

How can I change my desktop shortcuts to access programs I have transferred to my new external hard-drive?

Thanks, but maybe I haven't worded my question properly.
I have transferred items such as Picasa, Adobe photoshop etc
to the external drive to free up some space on my C-drive, but I still want to use desktop shortcuts to launch them from the other drive before I remove them from the C-drive. I'm just a little unsure of how to do this and would welcome all and any advice!! Thanks.

By transfered you do mean that you 'Installed' them on your external hard drive don't you?

If you have done that properly then the shortcuts will automatically work. What you can;t do is just move the program files from one drive to another - it won't work.

BTW it is a BAD idea to put program files on an external drive. If you should boot without it or disconnect it unexpectedly it can screw Windows up - badly. You should use external drives for data a files or stand alone executable code (e.g. Install Programs) only.
