How can I fix my Bernina needle rotation?

The needle in my Bernina Model 1130 suddenly stopped rotating. It's in the 'up' position and will not come down by using the foot control or the wheel, although it does move slightly. I can manually push the needle all the way down without stress to it. The machine was completely serviced and cleaned about a year ago, and has had very little use since then.

Regarding the second suggestion, if you have an 1130 and not a 1230, the machine will run with the bobbin winder engaged so disengaging the winder will not likely be the problem.

Remove the bobbin case and hook body. Remove the needle. If the hand wheel will not turn at that point, there may be a tighg spot at one of two or more locations.

Hello Judy,
When you press on the foot control can you hear the motor running, if you can slacken off the stop motion and push the bobbin winder on and then press on the foot control, if the winder does not go round the chances are that either the belt has broken or the belt has come off and jammed between the motor pulley and motor, you will know if that is the problem because you will hear a buzzing sound from the motor,
let me know how you get on.
