How can I reduce the pressure in my Baxi combi boiler?

My partner re-pressurised the boiler system following a water company switch off and forgot which way he had turned the tap. The pressure is now showing at level 5 and in the red. The heating system keeps switching its self off and now we have no hot water coming from the electric shower due to a fault regarding pressure. Please can you advise?

The easiest way to reduce your water pressure is to open a bleed valve on a radiator and remove the water from there. It takes a little time but it does work. Another way is to undo one of the radiator valve nuts but water comes out wholesale and is more difficult to catch.
