Have the same problems and ran across your question. It seems that you can buy a replacement screen through Hong Kong vendors around USD 80-90. Refer to the following site for step by step instructions: http://uselessinfo.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk/dismantlep900.htm
I have not done it myself yet, so I cannot confirm the accuracy of the instructions. Hope this helps.
