What part of my halogen downlights are not working?

I have three recessed halogen 50w downlights in my kitchen that aren't working. They are running from mains power into a fusebox. The fuse and all three downlights are working fine as I have already replaced them and no circuit breakers have been tripped. The mains are coming from behind an outlet in the kitchen that powers the microwave and toaster (both outlets are working). Is it possible that the wires have come disconnected from behind the outlets?

assuming that they are of the 12v variety then your transformer has gone u/s. It will be somewhere between the light fittings and the switch.
