toshiba a60 wont start up?

ok a friend of mine gave me his lap top to look at coz some thing has gone wrong, his mother in law used a usb flash drive in it and it went from there, now when u start it up you get the message windows could not start because the following file is missing or corrupt system32driversntfs.sys says you can attempt to repair this file by starting windows set up using the orignal set up cd rom,,, which he aint got , i tryed using a different windows disc to boot from i had no luck also it has come up system32driversisapnp.sys.
how can i fix this ?
can i wipe the laptop and restart with a different windows?
or does this need pulling apart and building with new parts.
any help would be very greatful

Have you tried f12 during the early boot stage to tell the comp to boot from the cd? fink its f12 anyway. you can also change the boot order in the bios and put the dvd/cd first, just remember to change it back later.

there are 2 things you can do, see if your lappy has a built in recover disk activated by keys at start up(not sure on Toshiba)if not could try checking ebay for toshiba recovery disks or if not you will need to do a fresh install using operating systems of some kind and this should cure your problem and get you back up and running
