Chances are that the BIOS recognised that there was a aftermarket video card and disabled the on-board graphics.
If the aftermarket card was letting you down in Windows but worked OK at bootup, then I would suggest putting this back in to enable the on-board graphics in the BIOS.
If its definitely dead, then try removing the BIOS battery, leave it out for 15-30 seconds and putting it back in. This should set it back to standard settings.
