My Hoover Dust Manager Cyclonic vacuum cleaner cuts out after a few mins?

My Hoover Dust Manager Cyclonic vacuum cleaner cuts out after a few mins? Since we purchased this vacuum cleaner it has been nothing but trouble. I contacted Hoover and they were not very helpful at all. Does anyone have any previous experience of this type of fault? I suspect it is overheating as it does feel very hot and if you leave off for about 10 mins it will work again briefly before cutting out once more. As you can imagine it is frustrating as it is not my favourite job in the world anyway.

Brill, yes using a bag instead works well as filters and box fills up to quick

I had the same problem.
When the filters clog up there is not enough air passing through to cool the hard working motor - which then overheats.
The thermal cut out operates and automatically switches off the motor.
When it cools down the system resets and switches on again. Yes, I think it is a design fault.
Keep all the filters clean and it is much better.

Hi there Dave,

I had exactly the same problem and found the helpline people rude and very unhelpful.

However, if you take out the 'bin' and replace it with the bag, it works really well. There is obviously a design fault with them. I would never buy hoover again, but this one now works ok with bags.

Also beware of the telescopic hose......I have had my fingers badly pinched on more than one occassion!

Happy hoovering

I have just came onto this site as my hoover cyclonic is v poor and the suction is near zero with the box and better with the bag. Overheats red light always on. Complete waste of money

Thanks I will try cleaning all the filters to see if that makes a difference. I think you may have a slightly different model from me as I do not have a red light on mine.

Hi,
Mine has been nothing but trouble. I had the same problem and its something to do with the filters.
Does the red light come on when it over heats as this is an indicator that the filter needs cleaning.
You need to wash them as shown in your manual.
Also I found that the suction was very poor using the plastic box so I changed to the hepa bags and the difference was amazing.
You need to contact hoover and they will send you a small part that allows you to use a bag instead of the box, also it was a free service.
Hope this helps.
