Have you tried cleaning the disc? I had the same problem with on-board DVD Sat Nav in my Peugeot 406. It was always a dirty disc that caused reading problems.

I have the same problem with my Volvo V70 - have you found any one who will recon the units as oppose to being ripped off by Volvo who only seem to want to sell me another unit @ around £500!!
