dvd player surround sound?

My dvd player dosnt work (well turns on not play dvd's well) the surround sound works through the dvd player, so i was wonder whether i could put all the speakers and the dvd player in my room, and connect it to my television and my xbox 360 and still use the surround sound whilst watch regular television or playing games, my tv is sasmsung.

yes, you can. Give me some more specs on your dvd player, your samsung tv, your surround processor, and your xBox connections. I am assuming that you are using all digital, either coaxial or optical for highest quality sound. Model numbers and pictures of availible connections would be helpful.
