film and teeth do not line up on Sankyo 2000H projector?

what is wrong if the holes in the film do not line up with the teeth on a Sankyo 2000H movie projector
MJ Chimokosky, January 2008
Most probably you are trying to show Standard 8 (otherwise known as Regular 8 or Normal 8) film on a Super-8 projector, or on a Dual-8 projector in its Super-8 mode; possibly you are trying the reverse of this (i.e. Super-8 film on a Standard 8 projector) - it depends on the specification of the Sankyo 2000H, which I don't have to hand.

The spacing of the sprocket holes differs between Std 8/R8/N8 and Super-8, as does their size and the size of the image area on the film.
