definitely fakes. A friend brought back a Sony branded flash drive from Beijing China that was imprinted 160GB - That's right, not a typo 160 gb. Plugging it in says there are 156 gb of free space. Copying more than 1GB causes the files to corrupt.

Cheap crap!

Take care with those Ameco Flash Drive, In China are selling fake Kingston Pen Drive when you connect it to the computer it show Ameco Flash Disk and not Data Traveler that is the correct. Resume... you have fake Pen Drive, i do have the same ones but Kingston Fake Pen Drive.

16GB Ameco Flash Drive Branded Lenovo CRAPPOLA. They have loaded some driver/bios that forces a 4GB or 8GB to look like 16GB to the OS. CR*PP*TY CR*P. Got them off ebay and they suck like a black hole. You can get readyboost ready patriot 16GB from newegg and they WORK.

I am starting to wonder if Ameco is a real company. My first files copied to my 16GB Ameco were corrupted. Doing a "check disk for errors" produced three corrupted folders. This thing seems to be excruciatingly slow. It has got me worried. I am now following the directions on an ebay review on how to test for a fake drive. If you just do a search for "fake USB drive" you will find several resources and you might determine if that is your problem. My tests are inconclusive so far. Not looking good. I know I have corrupted files. Next step is to wipe it clean and reformat.

You prob have a fake Ameco flash Disc.
Don't waste your time on it...
Buy a real USB flash disc. don't forget that today 16GB is the max size.

Wierd in what way? What sort of files/folders? There are some free programs out there that can delete stubborn files or folders which have names that prevent deletion normally.

Have you first of all tried doing a virus scan of your flash drive?
