how can we unlock a digilogic dvdvcr2?

how can we unlock a digilogic dvdvcr2? the word "safe" appears when any button onn the unit or the remote is pressed. this renders the unit unusable

Yes, holding the power button down for several seconds works, but why on earth does this not say so in the manual

Derek Pugh, October 2014
what if i lost the remote? anything can be done from the machine itself?

mic, July 2011
Yeap works well - but had to hold red button down for around 20 sec. Cheers

if you hold the power button on the remote for about 5/6 seconds it should clear the "SAFE MODE" if it then says HIFI/STILL check the scart cables are in the correct sockets at the back of the dvdvcr2. hopefully this will clear the HIFI stage. and you should now be able to play the unit.

mary, October 2010
did anyone do this then get the new problem of the player saying 'hifi' after you press play and it doesn't do anything? I pressed play again and then it says 'still'???????

Worked for me thanks

Vic, May 2010
Have just followed instruction and it worked - have been trying for six months, and actually got a partial refund as it wouldn't work and obviously they did not know about this, and did not want machine back!!!!!!!!

Thankyou for solving this problem for me too!

Mr Smith, December 2009
Cheers I just had the same problem and you saved the machine from taking a short trip out of the window.

Press red power button on remote control and hold down for five seconds, this should remove safe mode.

Anthony Dixon, April 2008
yes yippee i had this problem as well and holding down the power button for some seconds gets rid of the safe mode problem... thanks for that.

jude, March 2008
Hi there,

The answer is to hold down the power button on the remote control for around 6 - 30 seconds and it will knock it off safe mode.

Did you manage to solve this problem of "safe" appearing and rendering the player unusable?

We're now on to our second one that has done this. I would be really interested to know how to solve it.
