My toilet won't flush?

The cisten water level is ok. I had to pump the handle twice for the toilet to flush, but now it won't flush at all. I've looked inside and the handle is attached ok, nothing seems to be broken, even pumping the handle vigirously won't flush it. Please, what do I do to fix it?

I have just replaced the diaphram in my toilet in 15mins,if the syphon will split in the cistern it is a easy repair,i cut a piece of plastic envelope to make a new one it now works perfect, when u take the cistern lid off av a look at thesyphon ,if it has a bend at the top with plastic connectors u can unscrew both sides then pull out the syphon, the repair is then straight forward if notu will need to take off the cistern which is a lot more difficult

I recently replaced the diaphragm in my toilet and it was a piece of cake. I detached the syphon, opened it up and popped down B&Q (Warehouse) picked one up for £1.28 (incl. Doughnut washer)
What you tend to find is that a lot of home DIY places (eg B&Q, Homebase etc) will try and flog you a complete solution which costs about £30! and Home DIY stores keep very low stocks of individual components. However failing this you can always visit a plumbers merchant!
I admit I was lucky as not all syphons come apart so easily as mine did but to say that its a difficult job without more information is a little hasty at best and at worst misleading! This surely defeats the object of forums like this one. "I suggest that you bite the bullet and call a plumber....my telephone number is" ....yeah right!

The diaphragm that lifts the water up into the siphon is worn or deteriorated. To replace a diaphragm you need to take the whole siphon out. This is not a simple job, I suggest that you bite the bullet and phone a plumber
