Yes you do need a new auto air vent. Look for the appliance 7 digit Gas Council no (GC no) and take that along with make and model of appliance to a heating spares shop and they should be able to provide you with one there and then. Most AAV's are always in stock and usually cost around £10 - £20.

should only be running at 1 bar , try that , if it still leaks get new valve, - make sure its not slack
