E02 error code ariston microgenus 28?

Boiler loses pressure frequently, especially when cold, E02 code keeps coming up. After repressurising the boiler it works for a while before pressure drops again, from 1.1 (ish) bar to 0 Have checked the overflow for leaks and the central heating pipe work. No sign of any leaks but the water is going somewhere, any ideas? Some sealent has been put in the system but still not fxed the pressure control valve has also beenchecked.

Migster, you are a lifesaver!

For anyone looking for Migster’s post, here’s what he had to say, and it works!

“I had the same problem with my ariston bioler after bleeding the radiators (removing the air from them). From what i can see the "E 02" code means a lack of pressure in the system.
To clear this i released more water into the system on the MFFI boiler there should be 2 black taps on the inlet pipes turn the middle one about half turn. And then slowly release the left hand side tap to release more water in to the system .

!!!!! be very carefull not to over fill.. once the system is hot the preassure will be build do not exceed 1.5 bar !!!

i got my system working doing this.. but i would advise getting the boiler checked by a corgi engineer.”

Migster, thank you very much for the advice, I followed the steps and now boiler works fine :)

Hi, I have a Ariston microGENUS HE 28 MFFI boiler and the water pressure drops to zero every time the heating switches off on the timer and therefore will not restart as the error code 02 come up. The overflow pipe has signs of water dripping from it. Does this sound like a replacement boiler or compression tank needs changing?

Hi there, did what Migster suggested but no joy so I tried the opposite, I released loads of water from the system to almost 0.5 and then topped the sytem upto 1.5 and the boiler fired. An engineer is coming round tomorrow as he reckons I have a dogey expansion valve or leak in the system, but I have checked all rads and even had a solution added to the water to help leaks. Ariston....crappy boilers. Had mine 4years and constantly having E02 errors.

Wow I just figured out who Migster was and tried what he suggested and it totally worked and I am now warm and toasty with hot water. THANK YOU SO MUCH! I didn't have to wait for my husband to fix it which was great.

What is the migster method?

Just had same problem with boiler used migsters method worked perfectly though I do advise a plumber to have a look at it just for diligence

We tried this and it worked brilliantly. But when we turned the radiators on the pressure dropped again. Pretty sure we have a leak in the radiators so getting an engineer tomorrow. But thank you for the advice it saved our bacon.

I got my boiler going after the advice from Migster. I just did it very carefully and gradually, kept on stopping and checking if it would work yet. I got the E02 message after bleeding one of my radiators too, and this totally fixed it.

Thank you so much. Brilliant advice.

Hi there, not worked on these boilers at all so this may not be very useful, but with the pressure dropping regulary it sounds like you may have a leak somewere, also when the boiler is on does the pressure rise to over 3 bar? in this case you normally find that the expansion vessel may need re-pressurised, or worse case scenario the expansion vessel diaphram washer could be burst, so my advice would be to check for any leaks, if not, check the pipe that goes to the outside, the blow off pipe, and if there is any sign of water there report back here and i'll try to help

Just been told that the boiler will have air in it and the air needs to be release in a pressure switch / knob just above the water pump and you can also try and see if the filling tube / loop does not have a kink in it to prevent water from getting into the boiler.

Hope that helps

call out a corgi registered plumber!
