Hotpoint WM22 not pumping out water?

Hello,

our WM22 is not pumping out water. If I bring the hose to ground level, gravity allows the water to rapidly fill a bucket, but its not emptying itself via the usual means (as described in the handbook).

Its been working perfect for the last 13 years (aside from a new motor, brushes and seal over the time).

Do you think the pump has failed? is it simple to replace it?

Advice please.

on the pump there are two connections, N(eutral) and L(ive) but only one wire - is it missing something here? Can't find any loose leads. I presume it was a live lead that was connected :-)

I've removed the pump, nothing has snagged the rotar, but behind it was all claggy (like in a fish tank internal pump).

I've reconnected, just need to test it again and hope the pipes don't leak, nor the wiring short.

But I think I need to get some new brushes.

thanks Colin - do the pipe connectors release easily? (haven't tried yet).

Do I need to totally remove the pump to examine it? Any advice on pump removal/inspection appreciated.

Pump is very easy to replace. Undo the two hose connections and the wiring connections and remove fixing screws. Replacement pump should be around £10 -£15. Check out www.2ndwave.co.uk/manual.html for more info

Before you replace the pump check that it is turning freely. Chances are it is clogged with bits of cotton and other debris. A good clean is usually enough to get it going again.
