machine very noisey on spin?

machine has become very noisey on spin and is unbearable to be in the same room as, washes ok and spins ok , would this mean the bearings need replacing and would it be something i could do myself the model is an indesit w143s about 2 years old, if so where would i get the replacement bearings.

Yup, definitely sound like the bearings have gone. Strange, though, on such a new machine. Could happen if you've been putting too much in and overloading it. Generally, the bearings are fairly straightforward to replace...check on this site to see if there's a 'how to do it' answer. There is for most machines. You do need a fairly good selection of tools to do the job. The old bearings need a fair bit of forcing out and the same with forcing the new ones in. The machine needs some dismantling first but don't let this put you off. They're all fairly easy, but do label the wires if you have to disconnect any Can't help, though, with a source for the bearing kit. Call the manufacturer's number on your literature and they will help. I would suggest around £35/40 for the kit. BUT when you speak to the manufacturer, try suggesting to them that it's a little sonn for the bearings to be going. Although the machine's out of warranty, it doesn't necessarily mean they won't replace the bearings free of charge. Give it a try and the best of luck!
