My Kenmore 70 series washer will not spin, but the water is draining out and all other functions work. What might be the problem?

Check out the motor brushes - graphite blocks which transfer mains power to the copper segments of the motor. Possibly worn out or burnt. Other possibilities, damaged motor armature, faulty motor or faulty motor control board or "module".
