How do I clean photo sensitive drum which has a scratch in my Canon NP1550?

The roller in the centre of my Canon NP1550 photocopier seems to have couple of small scratches which leave short black lines on the copy. Does this mean a new roller? If so what is it called? If not, how can I clean it?

It is indeed possible to repair scratched drums!

For instance, this company offers a "scratch filler stick":

Sorry but you can't clean the drum unit. You will need a new one. These units have a life of about 60K. You will need to conntact a Canon agent for a replacment unit.
