i have a huge rip in my corduroy pants, and i want to mend it by hand(as i do not have a sewing machine). what is the best way for me to repair? do i patch it, or just sew it closed? my biggest worry is that i will repair, wear the pants out and rrrriiiippp! theres my butt! help please. i love these pants.

while corduroy is very hard wearing,it easily frays from seams or tears/rips.it will probably need patching.sew invisible mend on rip,then sew strengthening patch on inside of denim or calico material.alternatively buy a ready made patch large enough to look authentic,and sew over and to cover completely ripped area, giving good,strong repair.need to cover about 1 inch either side of rip for secure repair
