AX-M68D is blowing the fuse any ideas on how to fix?

My Hitachi AX-M68D is either blowing the main plug fuse or the input 3.15v fuse. I've replaced input cables in case but without luck. Can anyone advise before i bin it ?

I have just fix the very same type of unit for a friend. It had a very similar fault, the internal mains fuse or the single 2A pcb mount fuse blew on power up. It was cause by a dead short on the 12vac supply. I traced the short to a small electrolytic capacitor on the small power supply board in the CD unit (on the left hand side as viewed from front). The capacitors legs were bent and shorting to the board. I only had to move it upright to fix the problem.
Hope that helps
