How do I fix my GE washer when it won't drain and spin?

How do I fix my GE washer when it won't drain and spin? It will go thru the wash cycle but when it cones time to drain and spin the water, it just won't work.

take off outlet pipe and emty water into a bowl, once empty lean machine back and clean out outlet pump,

unfasten the pipes to the pump and check for blockages. if they are clear and it still wont drain then you need a new pump.

Do you hear the motor running during spin mode or is it dead? Is this a newer ge post 1995?
