Error message on EPSON D92?

I have just installed the above printer and after printing each job it locks the computer up with an error message which says:
EPSON Status monitor 3
Epson Status Monitor 3 has encountered a problem and needs to close, we are sorry for the inconvienience etc etc

It then gives me 3 button options:
Debug, Send error report, don't send.
none of which work and the only thing to to is resart the computer.
I have tried reloading all the software. I am using origianl inks that come with the printer but intend to use compatables once they are used up
does anyone have any suggestions please?

I had this problem on my Epson R285 and resolved it thanks to Epson support steering me in the right direction.
In my case it was caused by agcutils.dll part of WebShots and removing WebShots resolved the problem for me. Hope this is helpful.

I have had this problem with a couple of Epson printers, twice now with the D92. I have uninstalled/reinstalled drivers to no avail. The only success was to save all my work and do a system recovery (not restore) back to shop bought condition. The printer is then installed again and monitor 3 works fine even with Pro Jet compatable cartridges.
Had to do this on two occasions this year, but all is well at present. The recovery gets rid of all debris off your hard drive thus speeding up operation and is well worth it.

I have been getting the same error message since downloading the SP3 for Windows XP but I have an Epson Stylus photo printer. The printer seems to work fine but the error message comes up everytime I start the computer

Sorry john but the drivers on the epson site you list refuses to download despite repeated attempts .. as for the other person with vista .. all microsoft operating systems are full of warts ... and epson products are plastic c***p ! & their after sales service non-existant .. so if anyone else has an alternative to asking epson ??

This driver is no better then the supplied Epson one, status monitor still not working and do not know ink levels.

Getting the same issue here, and I reckon my problem is Vista.

Word 2003 in Vista is a ballache too. Keeps asking to wait a bit longer for the printer, over and over. It gets there eventually, after ten or twenty minutes and an occasionally reboot.

Vista is slow, has an annoying security system and incompatibility issues abound, even with other Microsoft products. It's a bl**dy good job it looks nice, or I'd microwave it. Hell, might do it anyway. Where's my XP disk?

The D92 is a sexy little printer. Vista is an ugly, cumbersome, wart-infested pustule of an operating system, but dressed in a fur coat to make it look like it's worth a go.

I used to have a girlfriend a bit like that. I dumped her, just like I'm gonna dump Vista. Difference is, XP will take me back with open arms and treat me better than I can ever remember until I pollute it with hordes of irresistable crap from the interweb.

Get rid of the printer, I did. Epson people can`t answer the problem. I got rid of my D92. Will never buy Epson again.
