How can I fix my HP 840C paper feed?

My HP 840C printer suddenly refused to print. It goes through the motions of loading the paper and the wheels are turning but paper is not being picked up. On screen message says paper tray is empty. Is this a problem which can be solved?

You can try to rough up the pickup tyres, hold some glass paper type of material against the rollers press form feed on printer so whole of roller is nice and rough 2 to 3 revolution should do it, dont hold paper too hard against pick up tyres
