does not play a dvd?

I have got a PROLINE TVD31400 which does not play a dvd.
When loaded a dvd it says no disc on screen.
Can someone tell me what could be the problem.

clean the laser by hand as your dvd won't read disc's,so disc cleaner no use,if this does not work you need new laser
