How can i fix my Indesi WIA121 washing machine?

I ordered a new heater element as the washing machine wasnt heating the water. After replaceing the element and starting a wash. water began poring out of the new element. The only way i could see to removing the old one was to release the middle nut and the cylinder which pushes into the hole and wiggle and pull and it cam out.
I fitted the new one in reverse.

Is this the correct way

Yes this was easy to fit and cured the problem, many thanks for your service

sounds as is the rubber seal - oval item which surrounds the element isnt pushed far enough in. theres a channel which runs round the edge. this channel has to be pushed into the metal backplate to form a proper seal.
