My computer DVD/Cd player isn't even spinning when I insert a DVD. When I try to hit 'play' the message says, 'insert disc' even though there already is one in the drive. I checked with the device manager, and it says it's in working order, but it's not!

If your DVD player has worked in the past, then i would try the following:, unplug the unit, take the cover off your player, I usually use a Q-tip dipped in peroxide (i'm sure there is something else recommended) and clean the lens that the lazor comes from. Be sure to dry (use other end of q-tip) and check to see if all is in its place tightly and correctly, and dust as much as you can, this works with playstation 2 as well.
