My washing machine fills as normal on any cycle and then it turns the drum quite fast stops after about 5 seconds.Seems dead but then after about 5-10 mins does the same.After this keeps happening i decide to drain the water out of the machine and what i expect is a error code flashes 8 times.Thankyou for any help.

Thanks for this. This fixed it for me - brushes were fine but I felt it was a motor problem.

Read your solution - slipped the motor back out and removed the cover of the speed sensor at the rear and found the fault as described.

Unplug the machine. Tilt the machine back and pull down the black plastic cover underneath. On the rear of the motor there are 2 yellow wires going to the motor speed sensor. Remove the speed sensor coil from the end of the motor by pulling it out. Inside you will find that the magnetic sensor spindle has just come out of the centre of the motor. Screw in the spindle (tight) push the speed sensor coil back in.
Hey presto.... it works fine again. (and it didn't cost you a new programmer @ £70 like I thought it was).
