How do free the inner hand wheel to wind the bobbin on my sewing machine?

The inner knob of the hand wheel seem to have frozen. (Kenmore Sewing Machine- Model 158) I can't get it to turn counter clockwise to start the bobbin winding process. Can you help? Is there a certin way to loosen the inner wheel without using a tool?

I'm having the same problem, too; I don't know why it can't be untighten. I've never experienced that before. I've had the Kenmore 8 Stitch Sewing Machine for 27 years. It works great! I just can't start the bobbin rewinding procedure. Do you know what the problem is?

There is a small screw in the stop motion wheel, loosen that screw off completely, you will then need to force the stop motion wheel towards you, once you have done that turn the stop motion wheel back again so it is hand tight and then tighten the screw up again.
