Durabrand Vacuum Cleaner?

My Durabrand Cyclonic Upright Vacuum Cleaner appears to have nothing clogging it, the brushes turn...everything seems fine, however it will not pick anything up from the bottom. If you use the hoses, it will suck, but not from the lower area with the brushes. It is only a few months old...and I cannot explain this??

I've worked on many Hoover and Electrolux uprights but not on cyclone ones they were just out with the Dyson then and the common fault was the intake tube behind the brushroll can get blocked. Nothing happens when tube in place because the of the blockage, brushroll turning ok but as soon as the tube is removed the suction is their on the tube. So if you know how try removing the base plate to see if it's blocked. Wait in the dust abit someone with one might come in with a quick run down on how to get the base off unless of course it's obvious. if it is and was caused by large bits of paper or a coctail stick stuck in intake tube then clear it but make sure next time you pick up large bits before vaccuming as they are made to suck up dust dirt but not A4 size bits of paper.
