neatgear adapter finds wi-fi signal,but still won't connect to internet why?

i'm using a bt home hub for my wireless connection. the netgear adapter that i'm using in my 2nd pc upstairs pc is detecting a strong from the home hub.
But when i click on the i.e icon i cannot access the internet on the the 2nd pc.
anyone know why this is

YOU MAY HAVE TO GO IN TO THE ROUTER SET UP & MAKE SURE THAT YOU HAVE ENABLED THE WEP CODE & ALSO OPEN NETGEAR PROPERTIES & MAKE SURE THAT THE FIRST WIRELESS ACCESS POINT I:E HOME HUB IS THE FIRST CHOICE THEN JUST ENTER YOUR HOME HUB NAME & SECURITY CODE I:E OPEN THEN WEP & CLICK APPLY OK THEN TRY AGAIN.
