I can turn a computer on/off but as for programs etc I'm lost.
Searches say click 'Export'.... where is Export? . Do I have to open each email find 'Export' and export one at a time.

Not enough memory probably mean out of disk space.

You can take a look at the documents that you have saved on your computer. Take a good look at the videos, music and images. They can be pretty big.

You may want to delete some older videos that you collected from the Internet, but it would be better to transfer them to an external drive that you can connect to your USB port.
Transfer any precious videos to at least two different physical drives. Burning them to a DVD is also an additional option.
You really don't want an important/precious video to be in only a single location. If anything bad happen, it will be lost for ever.
You should do the same with any important photos, like : Weddings, births, your kids / family, vacations, birth days, graduation, ...

You can do the same with music, images and pictures. This can free a LOT of space.

Video tend to be large.
Music also tend to be large, but less than videos.
Images are usually of moderate size.
In comparison, word documents look rather small.
The applications actually don't take much space, but you may want to uninstall those that you no longer use.

Copying the e-mails into a word document is not efficient, and can often take more space than needed.

The «Export» is to be found in the menu.

1) Select all the messages that you want to save.
2) IF there is no menu bar visible : Hit the Alt key to make it show.
3) Explore the various items until you find «Export» (As I don't use Hotmail/Outlook, I can't be more specific)
4) Once you locate it, click on «Export»
5) You should get a dialog from where you can select a destination. If you have an external drive, select, or create, a folder that will receive the e-mails that you want to keep on that external drive.
6) Click OK.

It will take some time depending on how many messages you have and their size.
