hi,i just bought a 92 waverunner 650 lx.it wont start,it wont turn over ,wont even make a noise ,its like the battery was dead,but its a new battery,and fully charged,all cables ,wires, fuse,seem good,one thing i noticed when i took battery out,was that someone had reversed polarity,the pos was on neg terminal and visa versa.would this have fried somthing?please help thnx

It is the switch for your kill key, mine went out and I tracked it down to that. To check it open the hood and by the hindge pull the connection with the red and white wire, jump the two wires and your starter motor should turn over, but it should not start. if you want it to start, disconnect the other set of wires, but be ready to reconnect them so you can shut the thing off

ok i just went out and took the top off my start and stop assembly on my handlebars.(2 srews)when i did,i fiddled with a little rubber nipple,on the inside of the bottem half,(the one with the red button)which suddenly popped up in its rubber casing which turned out to be the lanyard safety kill switch assembly.it was stuck in the down position so even when my lanyard was installed ,it was still stuck in the down or kill mode on the inside,played with it some more pushing turning etc to lossen things up,put it back together and it starts every time now.hope this helps.
