Smeg DF614WE Dishwasher handle broken?

Hi there. The handle of my DF614WE dishwasher has broken. It is one of those ones that you put your hand into the gap in the control fascia and the handle flips backwards. The two little bits at the top that hold it in place have snapped off. So now the handle is sticking outward from the machine and looks messy. Of course, the machine is still working - it just looks untidy. It's not under warranty any more. I have sourced a handle on the net for about £9 but I was wondering how hard it would be to fit it ourselves. Can it be done from the outside of the machine, or would the control fascia the handle is in have to be taken off. If yes, how hard (and dangerous!) would that be for us to do? Many thanks in advance for your advice.
