I HAD A PROBLEM WITH THIS TOO. I FOUND I HAD TO REMOVE THE GEAR SELECTOR SWITCH. THIS WILL ALLOW YOU TO INSTALL THE FRONT CASING AND GEAR MECHANISM. THE GEAR SELECTOR SWITCH THEN HAS TO BE INSTALLED LAST THING. SORRY I CANT BE ANY MORE PRECISE. IT WAS QUITE EASY ONCE I REALISED WHAT I WAS DOING WRONG. I STRUGGLED FOR A VERY LONG TIME.I HOPE THIS HAS BEEN BENEFICIAL IF NOT I CAN TRY AND WRITE A BETTER SET OF INSTRUCTIONS. I ONLY CAME ACCROSS THIS QUESTION WHILST LOOKING FOR SPARES FOR A CORDLESS DRILL. HOPE YOU GET ON OK. PS BEWARE I BROKE MY GEAR SELECTOR THROUGH SHEER FRUSTRATION
