how can i fix my chandelier?

i have an older (25 yr) chandelier with 6 lights on it -
5 always work, but 1 has always gone out quickly and
now i put a new one in and it lights when it is part way
screwed in, but doesn't stay on and when screwed in
completely it doesn't work. is there something simple
i can do or do i need an elecrician?

That leads me to believe that there might be a problem with the socket itself. Some chandeliers are fairly easy to replace the socket while others are quite a challenge. Most of all repairs require a bit of skill and a lot of patience.
