Update for you - I've just replaced mine as follows:
You will need a cross head and two flat bladed screwdrivers (or similar).
1. Open the washing machine door wide and undo the 3 screws in the hinge (support door, just in case it drops on your foot!).
2. Once screws are removed, wiggle door up and down whilst pulling it away from the machine. Door should come off.
3. Lay door down on a flat surface (covered with a towel to avoid scratches) with chrome trim facing down.
4. Insert the tip of one of the flat bladed screwdrivers, into the small gap between the inner white door panel and outer chrome trim. To avoid damage, do not insert too far!
5. Using the second flat bladed screwdriver in the same way, work your way around the seam, levering it apart. About halfway round the chrome trim should completely separate from the door.
6. Undo the two retaining screws and carefully remove the broken handle mechanism (so that you know which way round the two springs and other new parts go).
7. Fit together the new latch, springs, centre pin and handle receiver, using the old one as guidance.
8. Fit handle assembly to door.
9. Fit handle to handle assembly the correct way round (this needs to be fitted to help align the chrome trim in the next step).
10. Replace chrome trim (snaps into place)
11. Refit door to hinge with the 3 screws removed in step 1 and test it opens and closes correctly.
12. Sit back and admire your handywork!
Hope this helps
